Why do i feel like a ass for buying a steam engine that worked only to find out that it's a hunk of junk? It ran great at the train show, but after i tried running it at home the left side rods blew themselves apart. They got fixed and it ran great, only to do it again 5 hours later to get fixed when a minute later both sides fell off when i go to put it on a display track. That's just my luck. I bought a "pup" when i thought i was buying a damn good engine. Guess i have to take the time (And maybe a little money) to get the damn thing up and running or just buy a new one to retire this one.

Oh, and to make me feel even worse is that my Grandma is the one who actually paid for it. Now i feel really like an ass as i blew money on something i wanted when she could of used that money on something else.

Shit like that happens, my friend. My father has been in a running battle with a particular locomotive for a couple years now. It is an Athern Genesis SD70MAC in BNSF's green, red, and cream warbonnet. This is one of those locomotives that you have to add the handrails, ditchlights, headlights, and other details yourself. First, it was one of the ditch lights. One would come on, but not the other. Then circuit board that allowed it to run on DC power failed, so he had to get a new one. Finally the decoder burned out the first time he put it on the track after hooking up DCC. It was a "plug and play" decoder, so it wasn't his fault! He said "Screw this shit!" (Literally what he said, too) and took it to where he bought it. They gave him a new one. They let him keep the old one and he took the motor out and used it in a dummy, so the SD70 is now a "powered dummy" meaning the lights work, but that is it.

My advice is take it to a hobby shop that has a repair service. They will know what to do.
